101 Spring St. New York, NY

The Future

As the building where Judd lived and worked, 101 Spring Street enables direct engagement with his creative process and a distinctive view of New York’s art community during the 1960s, 70s and 80s. 101 Spring Street will offer a firsthand experience that cannot be found at any other major art institution in New York City. Visitors will encounter art and design that exists on its own terms. 101 Spring Street will highlight Judd’s legacy in the context of the rich architectural history of the district and recognize the role of artists in defining the neighborhood.

The Program and Buildings Maintenance Endowment that is a major component of a $30 million campaign for Judd Foundation will improve Judd public programs, both at 101 Spring Street and in Marfa. These will include: an increased schedule of visitor tours: publications; lectures and symposia; oral history interviews; and film screenings. There will also be internships and partnerships with universities, museum education programs and local cultural agencies, such as The Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art, and Columbia University, among other activities.
